**Picks** - Trend over time → line (use bands for variability) - Composition → stacked bar (small categories) or treemap (≥8) - Ranking → horizontal bar, longest at top - Distribution → histogram or box plot - Correlation → scatter, with regression line if signal is strong **Clarity:** start y-axis at 0 for bar charts (not always for line); label the most important point on the line, not all of them; lose the gridlines you don't read. **Colour:** one neutral + one accent. No rainbow palettes for ordinal data.
